After a very long year of transition, we are finally HOME! Exactly one week ago, we officially moved into our new construction home, and no one is more thrilled than those two up there. Except maybe their very relieved and exhausted mama.
It came down to the wire, in more ways than one. It didn’t pass final inspection until noon on closing day. Not at all stressful, right? HA!
But pass it did, and after closing we spent all our meals those first few nights on a blanket in the living room. Oh how we missed having a fireplace for game nights and snuggle sessions. It was 80 degrees and the kids still insisted on turning it on.
We scheduled the actual move from our apartment for three days after closing to give us some wiggle room to clean, get appliances installed and temporary blinds on the windows. There are actually quite a few items still outstanding on the builder’s punch list but after over a year of waiting we just could not wait one more minute. On moving day, our awesome neighbor (and friend!) dropped off a delicious home cooked meal complete with wine and gluten-free cookies, and after dozens of signs and roadblocks pointing to us having made a mistake moving to North Carolina this was a very definite sign that maybe we did make the right choice.
